The games that changed the game

An emblem of universal progress

From the universal Olympic Truce to the Promethean fire, which symbolise progress for all, the Olympic Games have left a powerful legacy that is even stronger today. For the Paris 2024 games, we have eco-designed an emblem that embodies this change.

More than a symbol, a promise

For the first time in history, a female face will embody the Games, both the Olympics and Paralympics, through a common symbol. This face has been designed as a promise for inclusive games. One year after revealing our new emblem, Paris 2024 announced that it had brought the games to parity. Promise kept!

Behind the face

We have created a common emblem for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The emblem carries several symbols: the face of a woman as an allegory of freedom (the etymology of the word: franc / frei / free), the Olympic flame as a symbol of progress for all, and the gold representing human excellence. Our goal was to create a symbol of a whole nation, similar to the Paris 2024 games, which will be held in a number of French cities, not just Paris.

Ecobranding champion

The Paris 2024 brand identity is one of the first to include ecobranding in its guidelines. With a symbol that uses less ink, custom variable typeface that saves energy and paper, and eco-friendly colours, they have one of the first websites to adopt dark mode to limit energy consumption on mobile screens. Paris 2024 has set the standard for ecobranding, which will inspires others to follow.

« With a simple logo design, we prove that symbols and images have a great power of social change. »
